I’m sure I’m not the only artist that has found herself at one time or another in what I call creative quicksand. It seems at times as if I have an endless number of personal triggers that result in throwing me into “the ‘sand” and sometimes it seems the hardest work I ever do is jolting myself back to life!
Though maybe not what Tory Hughes had in mind when she penned the saying above, the picture (taken in the courtyard at the Mendocino Art Center) says it all. For me, basically it isn’t going to get better if I just stand here mired in quicksand. Time to stop sinking, smack myself in the head, and GO MAKE STUFF, GO DO STUFF, GO GET CRAZY! (and a big chocolate cake wouldn’t hurt any either!
